HCMC: Students back to physical schools

VGP – About 150,000 students of 9th and 12th grades in Ho Chi Minh City have returned face-to-face learning on December 13 after taking online learning for seven months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

December 13, 2021 4:15 PM GMT+7

Director of the Municipal Education and Training Department Nguyen Van Hieu was quoted as saying that the department sent five working groups out to inspect the trial physical learning program.

He added that if a positive case is detected in a class, offline learning will be converted into online learning.

However, the Director recommended schools and teachers not to be worried of possible occurrence of positive cases as a majority of students have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Statistics showed that as of Monday, about 88,000 students of 9th grade and 66,000 others of 12th grade got their parents’ permission for physical study, accounting for 88 percent.

According to the disease level map in the southern metropolis, only district 4 is categorized at the third risk level (orange). Eight other districts remained as green zone (level one) namely District 6, District 7, District 8, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon Tan Binh and Tan Phu Districts. The rest of 13 districts and city are categorised as yellow zone (level 2) including districts 1, 3, 5, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Binh Tan, Can Gio, Go Vap, Nha Be, Phu Nhuan, and Thu Duc City.

Earlier, on December 12, the local authorities decided to reopen schools for students of 1st, 9th and 12th grades from December 1 within two weeks on a trial basis./.
