Gov't orders more int'l flights to bring overseas Vietnamese home for Tet
VGP – Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has ordered increasing frequency of international commercial flights to Japan, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan to meet travel demand of overseas Vietnamese during the Lunar New Year.
On December 10, 2021 the Government approved the resumption of commercial flights between Viet Nam and nine destinations with high vaccination rates and good pandemic control measures in place, starting from January 1, 2022.
Specifically, regular flights are scheduled to resume to Bangkok (Thailand), Beijing/Guangzhou (China), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), San Francisco or Los Angeles (the U.S.), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Singapore, Taiwan, Tokyo (Japan), and Vientiane (Laos).
Pham also required resumption of regularly-scheduled commercial flights to European countries other than those that had been planned.
He assigned the Ministry of Health to issue specific instructions on how to prevent importation of Omicron variant into Viet Nam.
The Ministry of Public Security was required to issue regulations on immigration and health declaration for foreigners entering Viet Nam./.
