$2.1-bil. thermoelectric plant project signed

The 1,200-MW power plant with two turbines will be built in the northern province of Quảng Ninh in the mode of build-operate-transfer (BOT), in which the US group AES contributes 90% of the capital, and the Việt Nam Coal-Mineral Industries Group (TKV) 10%.

Once operational in 2015, the plant will make an annual electricity output of some 8.1 billion kWh, helping to meet electricity demand for socio-economic development in Việt Nam.
